    Submitting your proposal


    How do I submit my proposal? 

    Click ‘'SUBMIT PROPOSAL' in the toolbar at the top of the page and follow the instructions on the submissions portal. Entries open on 27 April 2026 (12:00 BST) and close on 30 September 2026 (23:59 BST).


    What should my proposal include?

    A book proposal (maximum 5,000 words) that sets out the argument, scope and style of the proposed book, and includes its structure

    A short biography

    A separate statement (maximum 250 words) explaining how artificial intelligence was used, if at all

    The proposal must be in English, original, and not previously published or submitted to this Prize.

    Can I use artificial intelligence in my submission?

    No. You must not use AI to write or generate any part of the proposal. 

    You may use AI in a limited way to support research. If you use AI, you must include a statement (maximum 250 words) explaining how it was used. Failure to follow these rules may result in disqualification.


    Can I submit more than one proposal?

    No. Only one submission per work will be accepted. Duplicate submissions, including by co-authors, may lead to disqualification.


    Can I submit a co-authored proposal?

    Yes. All co-authors must meet the eligibility criteria. Any prize money will be shared equally.

    Who can enter? 

    The prize is open to all writers over the age of 18 and under the age of 35 on 30 September 2026. 

    Entries must meet the full eligibility criteria outlined on the “How to enter” page.

    After you apply


    What happens after I submit? 

    You will receive an automated confirmation email.

     All eligible submissions will be reviewed. The longlist and finalists will be announced in November.

    Finalists will be contacted to arrange their attendance for the announcement of the winner and runners-up. 

     The winner and runners-up will be announced at the Financial Times and Standard Chartered Business Book of the Year & Bracken Prize Award Ceremony on 2 December 2026.
